I'm super pumped about Friday night. LifePoint wanted to do something to welcome back the SIUE students for another semester so we are hosting a concert with dear future. The concert will be Friday night at 8:00PM and the cost is $3 at the door. The concert will be at the church - 129 Steiss, Glen Carbon.
Take some time to check out this band - they are very good and I am glad they're coming to LifePoint. If you get a chance you can check out their myspace page and you can buy their album on itunes (well worth the $5).
I don't pimp things on my blog very often but today I thought I would mention something. Future of Forestry is a band that I had heard a few songs from but I hand not listened to a whole cd. My good friend Brandon give me their newest cd to listen to and I thought the whole album was refreshing.
Many times all albums start to sound the same and each song on the album songs like all the others. This cd has a fresh new sound and it sounds like a group of friends having fun. If you are looking for some new tunes you should check this out.
David Crowder is one of my favorite artist and part of the reason is that he is super creative. Check out this video where he uses a guitar hero controller during one of his songs. If you haven't checked out his new CD REMEDY I highly recommend it.
I think that David Crowder is one of the most creative artist around. David Crowder Band is working on a new album and I don't know the behind the scenes scoop but apparently Ted Nugent is going to make a guest appearance on the album. Check out this video.
Why does America like American idol so much? If you go into any restaurant or coffee shop you are sure to here someone one say "who do you think will win?"
Go on eBay and check out how many different items pop up when you search for American idol.
I would have to say that Taylor Hicks is my favorite. He makes me laugh and I love his energy. He reminds me of a singing Dick Vitale.
Did you know that stars make a sound? A pulsar is a highly charged neutron star and when a radio telescope is aimed at it you can hear some amazing sounds. They each make different sounds and if you click on the link I have provided here you can hear what the Vela Pulsar sounds like.
I can't help but be reminded of what the Psalmist says.
Praise him, sun and moon,
praise him, all you shining stars.
Psalm 148:3
A good friend of mine recently gave me a copy of an interview with Bono. I am not saying that he is the greatest theologian in the world but I think he has some interesting things to say about his faith. The interview is too long to post the whole thing but I will put a few pieces on here from time to time.
Bono: My understanding of the Scriptures has been made simple by the person of Christ. Christ teaches that God is love. What does that mean? What it means for me: a study of the life of Christ. Love here describes itself as a child born in straw poverty, the most vulnerable situation of all, without honor. I don't let my religious world get too complicated. I just kind of go: Well, I think I know what God is. God is love, and as much as I respond [sighs] in allowing myself to be transformed by that love and acting in that love, that's my religion. Where things get complicated for me, is when I try to live this love. Now that's not so easy.
My wife and I went to an incredible event last night with Chris Tomlin, Matt Redman, and Louie Giglio.
It was a great to be able to sit back and worship without having to worry about anything else going on because I had no responsibilities. Louie talked about the bigness of God and what that means to us. We are going to take some of his concepts and talk about them at NHC in February. He talked about the universe, planets, stars, light, and the vastness of outer-space and how it relates to God. Matt Redman had a couple of new songs I had not heard before and one of them was very groovy. If you don't have any music by Chris Tomlin or Matt Redman then I would highly recommend it. Louie has written several books that would be great reads.
