I am starting something new called Perspective. Each Sunday at LifePoint a different person is going to get a video camera and they will have a chance to let people see LifePoint from their perspective. There are no real rules - you can just video what you see or you can walk around and ask people questions.
It is going to be fun each week to see LifePoint from someone else's perspective. Here is the first episode of Perspective:
Here are some more LifePoint pictures. We have been meeting at Showplace 12 for 6 weeks now and it's finally starting to feel like home. I love LifePoint and I am so honored to be the pastor of such a great church. Every week I am so amazed at all the work people put in to make LifePoint such a great place.
My friend Anne Jackson, along with several others, are in India this week to communicate the great work of compassion international. You can sponsor a child for $32 per month and when you sponsor a child from India you help release that child from the grip of poverty and its
devastating effects — malnutrition, disease, dangerous living
conditions and neglect. Please sponsor a child in India and transform a life!
I have several packets with kids information that are ready for a sponsor. If you would like to sponsor a child just let me know and I will get you a packet.
Yesterday was my son's birthday and I put together a little video of him eating some killer cupcakes made by our friend Lyndsey Huff. If you would like to check out some cupcakes you can click here.
Did you ever play follow the leader as a kid. I loved playing that game out on the playground. Some leaders would make it really easy and some would make it very difficult to follow them. They would go fast, high and low just to make it difficult.
The game was always the best when I was the leader. If I was the leader I could go the places I wanted to go and at the pace I wanted to go. I loved being the leader because it was easier to just do what I wanted to do.
Jesus tells us in the Bible that by following Him we will have the best life possible. But for some reason we tend to think that if we follow Jesus, He will make our life difficult and make us do things that we don't want to do.
Come to me all of you who are weary and burdened, and I will give
you rest. Take my yoke upon you and learn from me for I am gentle and
humble in heart, and you will find rest for your souls. For my yoke is
easy and my burden is light. Matthew 11:28-30
I saw this very funny thing the other day on Carlos Whittaker's blog - check it out.
It is a campaign for Australia’s Solo soft drinks. Solo Beverage company aims to turn pasty, hairless boys into real men with their Solo Man Bibs. The
Solo Man Bib hooks easily around the neck and gives men instant
rub-worthy pecs, complete with chest hair and even a Solo gold necklace…
Have you ever seen a church website or bulletin that proudly displays all 633 programs they offer? Not only is it difficult to staff a large number of programs but I would contend that at some point by simply adding more programs you are ensuring the quality of all programs is going to suffer.
Apple has succeeded by limiting consumer choice, and Apple’s small product line-up has been a key factor in that success.
While other companies release an inordinate number of products in an
attempt to satisfy every potential customer, Apple has kept its product
line-up relatively streamlined in comparison.
Apple’s simplified approach to selling computers helped re-energize the
company as it forced Apple to focus on doing a few things extremely
well, while not letting its talent and resources drift off in a number
of different directions and projects.
I think the church could really learn something from the Apple business approach. They don't try to do everything and they make sure that the things that they do they do very well. They continue to be one of the top companies in America even though the have a limited product line. If the church does few things but does those things very well they will do better than if they were to offer a lot of mediocre programs.
I ran across a great video clip that really helps me explain why I do what I do. LifePoint started with the simple idea of helping people find their way back to God and there is nothing more beautiful then watching someone realize that it doesn't matter where they've been or what they've done, God still loves them and can bring them to a right relationship with Him.
Not only does this clip illustrate the truth of how much God loves us it help you see why a place like LIfePoint is so important.
